{NEW BLOG!!!!!}

Sorry I've been MIA, but I've been working on a new blog! I found a template I loved and then totally customized it to how I wanted it...not an easy task when you don't know much about html! And it's still a work in progress, but I thought I'd invite everyone to update their BLOGLINES or add my NEW BLOG to your favorites! This will be the new home of Melissa Davis Photography blog!

{Made for each other!}

I had a session tonight with the winners of one of my contests! They were married at Memory Grove and that's where we did their session. They were a lot of fun! At the end we did this fun thing where I had them write ONE word that described the other person...on the other one's hand. "M" was so cute writing on "D's" hand. She wrote in "code" so he wouldn't get the word while she was writing it and I didn't let them look at the words until I was done taking the picture! When they got to see the SAME words, it was such a sweet moment. [see moment blow]. Thank you guys so much for coming and having fun with me today!

{Picture over load!}

Today at my son's school, there were some Mary Kay ladies giving away flowers. Of course Alissa wanted it and I said "Miss, you should let me take pictures with that flower" and she said "Okay, lets go to the candy place" (which is Gardner Village where she got candy last time for letting my photo friends take pictures). I'm really not going to say no to that!!!! She was so good and lasted about 30 minutes letting me take pictures. I bought her a pez and put it on my camera and every time we went to a new spot and she let me take pictures, she got to pull the head back and get a candy!

We had a good time and I made sure to tell her LOTS how great she was doing so she'd want to go do it again! Now to get my son out and take pictures!!

{photography get together}

I got together with some friends today (who I just so happen to have met through my photography board). We have little get togethers every so often and It's fun to just have kids all around to take pictures of he he. Here is a bunch from today.

 

Oh and a long with having a great time, I am in love with all the cool spots to take pictures! I have driven by Gardner Village MANY times and never realized how cool it was for pictures!

{so wise...so small}

I had a newborn session this afternoon and the little guy was so cute! He was so alert for a newborn and was so curious about everything. He would just look around and he loved the sound of my camera. It seemed like his little eyes would move right to the sound and you've got to wonder what he was thinking while I took this picture. So wise at such a young age! he must be thinking up something good! Thank you 'T' for letting me take pictures of your little guy. I had a great time and it was fun meeting your family!

And because there is nothing like little baby parts, here is his cute little ear. (repeat after me...AWWWWWEEEEEE).

 

{I've been tagged!}

Wow, I've been lacking guys....sorry! I was tagged by a fellow photographer and friend, Marry. So I guess I need to give 7 facts about me, so here I go.

1. I've only been to two concerts in my {adult} life (Neil Diamond and Incubus) and I have decided that I LOVE them! I love the loud music, watching the people who love the music, watching the band play song after song (really, they must get so tired!), the energy and the chance to get out and just enjoy myself. I'm determined to go to a few this summer!

2. Since January, I've lost 33lbs and have 10 more to go until I reach my goal! When I hit my goal, I will weigh less than I have in six years! I'm super excited! But more than that, I've started to exercise for the first time in my life and it feels great to get healthy.

3. I love going to Lake Powell. My dad bought a boat the year I was born 1980) and I've been going there since then! When spring comes and I smell sun screen or gas, it makes me go into "craving Lake Powell" mode! I'm so excited that my hubby and I (along with some family) will be heading down there this summer! YAY!

4. I'm a pony tail addict. I try so hard to keep my hair down, but it's so nice to have it out of my face that it always ends right back in a pony tail.

5. I was a premi baby born 2.5 months early. I spend my first 6 weeks in the hospital...weighing in at 2 lbs 10 oz when I was born. I was very healthy and now that I have my own kids who were born on time and at healthy weights (and still both ended up in the nursery for breathing problems), it makes me very grateful that I was healthy and hardly ever get sick.

6. I love taking pictures (who would have guessed?!). Not just doing my photography, but I was always the one taking hundreds of pictures of silly things. You should see the collection of pictures I have from high school. My friends and I had a lot of fun!

7. I'm a procrastinator! If I see something that needs to be done (like fixing the crooked picture hanging on my wall), I'll just look and look at it and leave it be. It would take me 2 seconds to stand up and fix it, but I just don't lol.

8. and one more just for fun...because I can. this is my little family. My hubby and their daddy graduated from the U of U on Friday! We are so proud of him!

{My baby girl....again}

I SO can't wait until the day she will actually want to get her picture taken (you think that will ever happen?). I took her for a little mommy time. We headed down town SL to this really cool location that I learned about when I had a photographers get together a few months ago. It's urban, it's fun, it's got great diversity in this little spot. I love it! Anywho, it was cold and she wasn't having it. We got about 10 minutes in before she was done. I did manage to get a few cute ones though, and that's all that matters right?

She was one of my all time FAV sessions. She is so cute and we had a blast! Her mom has entered her into a photo contest and I'm just spreading the love for her! Come and vote HERE.

{ready for spring...err...SUMMER!}

So, I love to thrift store shop! I have been itching for summer start and we are JUST into Spring! The glimpses of nice weather here in Utah are driving me nuts! Lets just leave it warm and call it good okay?!

I went to DI yesterday and spent $65 for my kids summer wardrobe! I ended up getting:

* 6 shirts
* 9 pairs of shorts
* 4 skirts
* 1 summer dress
* swim trunks
* a pair of khaki pants
* and a pair of jammie bottoms

Yep, all of that for only $65...which is about $3 per item!

We also hit the GAP. Flip flops are 2 for $12, so we got my kids some for the first time! Alissa loves them and seems to walk okay in them he he.

I'm SOO READY for SUMMER!
